The Pitco Proximity Actuator is a direct replacement magnetic target for Pitco commercial fryers equipped with proximity-sensing door or drain interlock systems. It is mounted on the moving component — such as a door or drain valve handle — and passes near the proximity sensor to trigger the interlock switch without physical contact. Using the correct actuator ensures the proper magnet strength, mounting dimensions, and material compatibility with the Pitco interlock system.
Over time, the proximity actuator can be lost, physically damaged, or have its magnetic field weakened from impact or heat exposure, causing the associated proximity switch to fail to detect the actuator's presence and either prevent normal fryer operation or disable the intended safety interlock. A missing or weakened actuator can trigger nuisance lockouts or, conversely, allow the fryer to operate in an unsafe condition. Replacing the actuator restores reliable detection by the proximity switch and maintains the integrity of the safety interlock system.
Installation typically involves securing the actuator to its mounting point with the provided hardware, positioned for correct alignment with the proximity sensor. It is recommended to verify actuator-to-sensor alignment and test the interlock function after installation before returning the fryer to service.
