The Pitco Relay Board is a direct replacement relay control board for Pitco commercial electric fryers, housing the electromechanical or solid-state relays that switch power to the heating elements under direction from the temperature controller or operating thermostat. By isolating the high-current element switching from the low-current control circuitry, the relay board protects the controller electronics and provides the robust switching capacity needed for continuous cycling of high-wattage immersion elements. Using the correct relay board ensures the proper relay ratings, board layout, and connector pinout for the specific Pitco electric fryer model.
Over time, relay contacts on the board can weld closed from the high inrush current of heating elements at startup, or they can develop high-resistance contacts that cause intermittent heating or localized overheating on the board itself. A welded relay contact results in the elements staying on continuously and can lead to oil overtemperature, while a failed open relay prevents the affected elements from energizing at all. Replacing the faulty relay board with the Pitco-compatible unit restores proper switching function and protects the temperature controller from element load currents.
Replacement is performed by disconnecting the wiring harness, removing the board mounting screws, and installing the new board in the control compartment before reconnecting all leads. It is recommended to replace the relay board whenever element switching becomes erratic or a failed relay is identified, rather than attempting to replace individual relays on the existing board.
