The Pitco Rocker Switch 7/8 X 1-1/2 SPDT is a direct replacement single-pole double-throw rocker switch for Pitco commercial fryers. Its three-position or two-position SPDT action routes a single input circuit to one of two output circuits, enabling selector or transfer switching applications on the fryer control panel. Using the correct switch ensures the proper contact rating, 7/8 x 1-1/2 inch panel fit, and correct terminal layout.
Over time, the SPDT contact assembly within the switch can wear unevenly, with arcing damage accumulating on the more frequently used contact path while the other path oxidizes from infrequent use, leading to unreliable circuit routing or intermittent continuity on one output. A faulty SPDT rocker switch can cause incorrect operating mode selection or prevent the fryer from switching between functions. Replacing the switch restores clean, reliable circuit routing to both output paths.
The switch installs into the panel cutout using integrated retention clips and wires to the rear terminals. It is recommended to replace the switch whenever either output circuit becomes unreliable or when the rocker action does not positively latch to a selected position. Pairing switch replacement with a continuity test confirming both output circuit paths are correct before reassembling the panel will ensure proper fryer function after the repair.
