The Pitco Safety Valve is a direct replacement gas safety shutoff valve for Pitco commercial gas fryers. It provides an automatic shutoff of the gas supply if the thermocouple or thermopile signal is lost — indicating that the pilot flame has gone out — preventing the accumulation of unburned gas in the fryer cavity. Using the correct safety valve ensures the proper millivolt holding current, connection size, and flow capacity for the specific Pitco gas fryer safety circuit.
Over time, the safety valve's electromagnet seat can become contaminated with gas line debris, the holding coil can weaken, or the reset mechanism can develop excessive friction, causing the valve to fail to hold open with a good thermocouple signal or to prevent reset after a legitimate pilot outage. These failures can result in a fryer that will not stay lit or one that cannot be safely placed back in service after a shutoff event.
