The Pitco Solenoid Gas Valve 1/2" 120V is a direct replacement electrically operated gas valve for Pitco commercial gas fryers. This 120-volt solenoid-actuated valve opens and closes the gas supply to the main burner in response to the electrical signal from the fryer's temperature controller or control board. Using the correct solenoid valve ensures the proper coil voltage, flow capacity, and connection size for reliable, controlled gas delivery at 120VAC.
Over time, solenoid gas valves can develop coil failures from prolonged electrical energization, diaphragm wear from repeated cycling, or contamination of the valve seat from gas line debris, causing the valve to fail to open — preventing the burner from lighting — or to fail closed in the energized position, creating a gas safety hazard. A failed solenoid gas valve can also leak externally at the body fittings or internally past the seat. Replacing the valve with the 1/2-inch 120V unit restores safe, electrically controlled gas flow to the main burner.
Installation must be performed by a certified gas technician with attention to correct gas flow direction, proper pipe thread sealant application, and correct wiring polarity. A full gas leak test and a functional ignition test are required after installation. Pairing solenoid gas valve replacement with an inspection of the control board output stage and the supply gas pressure will ensure the valve is receiving the correct signal and inlet pressure for reliable, long-term operation.
