The Pitco Solid State Control is a direct replacement solid-state temperature controller for Pitco commercial electric fryers, providing precise digital or analog temperature regulation without the mechanical switching contacts found in capillary-bulb thermostats. It processes the signal from the fryer's temperature probe and controls power to the heating elements through solid-state switching components, enabling accurate, repeatable temperature control with minimal temperature overshoot. Using the correct solid state control ensures compatibility with the fryer's probe input type, element load rating, and control voltage.
Over time, solid state controls can fail from heat stress, voltage spikes, or component aging within the control electronics, resulting in erratic temperature swings, locked-on heating, or a complete failure to energize the elements. Unlike mechanical thermostats that degrade gradually, solid state failures can be abrupt and leave the fryer inoperable at the start of service. Replacing the faulty control with the Pitco-compatible solid state unit restores accurate probe-based temperature regulation and the protective functions built into the original design, including over-temperature detection.
Replacement is performed at the control panel and typically involves mounting the new control board, reconnecting the probe leads, and reconnecting the element switching outputs. It is recommended to replace the solid state control whenever temperature regulation becomes erratic or fails entirely after the probe and wiring have been verified as functional.
