Details
These sealing components are compressed between two surfaces to close off gaps that would otherwise allow heat, steam, water, or gas to escape, and they must maintain their sealing properties despite continuous thermal cycling and, in many locations, direct exposure to heat and moisture. Material selection and precise sizing are what allow the seal to hold under these repeated stresses.
A failing gasket or seal typically presents as visible heat or steam loss around a door or fitting, a hardened or cracked seal that no longer compresses evenly, reduced cooking efficiency from heat escaping the cavity, or a leak at a plumbing or valve connection. Left unaddressed, a failed seal increases energy use and can allow moisture or debris to reach components that should remain protected.
Replacement is generally straightforward. With the equipment de-energized and cooled, remove the retaining hardware or channel holding the old gasket or seal in place, clean the mating surface thoroughly to remove old adhesive or debris, and install the new seal fully seated in its channel or groove. Close the door or reassemble the connection and verify a tight, even seal across its full length before returning the equipment to service.
This genuine Southbend gasket, seal, or O-ring is manufactured to exact OEM specifications, ensuring correct fit, reliable operation, and long-term performance in a commercial kitchen environment.
