The Pitco Switch 7/8 X 1-1/2 DPST is a direct replacement double-pole single-throw panel switch for Pitco commercial fryers. Its DPST configuration simultaneously opens or closes two independent circuit poles with a single switching action, making it well suited for controlling paired or two-phase circuits within the fryer. Using the correct part ensures the proper contact rating for both poles and the correct 7/8 x 1-1/2 inch body dimensions for panel fit.
Over time, DPST switch contacts degrade from arcing, and the switch body can suffer from heat warping or terminal corrosion in the commercial kitchen environment, causing one or both poles to become intermittent or non-functional. A partially failed DPST switch may allow one circuit to operate while the other is cut, creating asymmetrical fryer behavior that can be confusing to diagnose. Replacing the switch with a new DPST unit ensures both poles switch cleanly and simultaneously.
Replacement requires disconnecting power, labeling the wires at each of the four terminals, and transferring them to the corresponding terminals on the new switch before mounting it in the panel. It is recommended to replace this switch whenever either pole shows loss of continuity in any switch position.
