The Pitco Thermopile W/ Pg9 Adaptor is a direct replacement thermopile assembly for Pitco commercial gas fryers using millivolt control systems. The thermopile converts heat from the pilot flame into millivolts of electrical power, which is used to hold the gas valve open and power the thermostat circuit without any external electrical supply. The included PG9 adaptor ensures compatibility with the specific gas valve connection thread used in Pitco millivolt fryer models.
Over time, the thermopile's thermocouple junctions degrade from oxidation and thermal fatigue, causing the millivolt output to drop below the level required to hold the gas valve open. This results in the pilot flame extinguishing the main valve, causing the fryer to shut off unexpectedly or fail to stay lit after ignition. Replacing the thermopile with the assembly restores the required millivolt output to keep the valve open and the fryer operating reliably.
Installation involves threading the PG9 adaptor into the gas valve port and positioning the thermopile tip in the pilot flame. It is recommended to measure millivolt output with a multimeter after installation to confirm the output meets the gas valve's minimum holding requirement.
