The Pitco Toggle Switch 1/2 DPDT, Ctr-Off is a direct replacement center-off double-pole double-throw toggle switch for Pitco commercial fryers. Its three-position action — left, center (off), and right — allows the operator to select between two operating modes or circuit states while also providing a center-off rest position for safety or standby. Using the correct switch ensures the right contact rating, detent action, and mounting dimensions for a proper fit.

Over time, the center-off detent mechanism can wear, causing the switch to fail to hold its center position, and the contacts can degrade from arcing, oxidation, or physical contamination, resulting in unintended circuit activation or loss of switching function. These failures can create unsafe or unpredictable fryer behavior. Replacing the switch with a compatible center-off DPDT unit restores clean, positive three-position control.

Installation follows the same panel-mount procedure as other toggle switches, with the old wiring transferred to the matching terminals on the new switch. It is recommended to replace this switch when the center-off position fails to hold or when any of the switched circuits become unreliable. Pairing replacement with a full function test of each switch position will confirm proper circuit routing before the fryer returns to service.
