Details

The water distribution tube or distributor assembly is installed above the evaporator in Manitowoc cube ice machines and delivers recirculated water from the water pump through multiple precisely spaced outlet ports across the full width of the evaporator surface. Even distribution of water across all evaporator cells is critical to producing complete, full-size, uniformly clear ice cubes in every cell during each freeze cycle — any cells that receive insufficient water flow will produce undersized, hollow, or incomplete ice.

A cracked, clogged, or scale-encrusted water distribution tube causes uneven water flow, resulting in incomplete ice grids, hollow or misshapen cubes, and sections of the evaporator that produce no ice. Mineral scale gradually accumulates inside the tube and in the small outlet ports over time, progressively restricting flow to affected areas. Replacing or thoroughly descaling the distribution tube restores even water flow across the full evaporator surface and returns the machine to consistent, full-grid ice production.
