Details

The 000001767 water dump valve is a aftermarket solenoid valve installed in the sump trough circuit of Manitowoc commercial ice machines. It opens at the conclusion of each freeze cycle to drain a portion of the accumulated sump water, purging dissolved minerals and impurities before the next cycle begins. This regular flushing prevents mineral scale from concentrating in the water circuit and depositing on the evaporator surface — one of the leading causes of reduced ice production and shortened equipment service life. The valve is controlled directly by the machine's control board and must actuate reliably thousands of times per day throughout the service life of the ice machine.

A failing water dump valve is among the most common contributors to accelerated scale buildup and degraded ice production in Manitowoc machines. Symptoms of a defective valve include water remaining in the sump after the dump cycle, excessive scale on the evaporator plate, or a valve that fails to close fully — causing continuous sump drainage and low water level faults that interrupt production.
