Details

The water curtain is a flexible component mounted in front of the evaporator in Manitowoc cube ice machines, channeling the flow of recirculated water from the distribution system evenly across the full face of the evaporator. Without this controlled flow path, water would splash off the evaporator surface and fail to maintain the thin, uniform film needed for consistent ice formation in every cell. The curtain works with the water distribution tube to direct water smoothly over all evaporator cells simultaneously throughout the freeze cycle.

A cracked, torn, warped, or missing water curtain causes uneven water distribution, resulting in incomplete ice grids with unfilled cells, hollow or misshapen cubes, and reduced daily ice output. In some cases a damaged curtain allows water to bypass sections of the evaporator entirely, producing dry spots that result in undersized or fused cubes during harvest. Replacing with this direct replacement curtain restores correct water distribution and consistent full-cube production across all evaporator cells.
