The water pump in a Manitowoc ice machine runs continuously throughout the freeze cycle, drawing water from the sump trough and delivering it under pressure through the water distribution system and over the face of the evaporator. This constant recirculation creates the thin, even film of water across all evaporator cells essential for forming uniformly sized, clear ice cubes.
